This is the short documentary that we watched in class last week about the Untouchables, members of the lowest caste in India. The caste system is illegal in India today, but many people, especially in the more rural areas of India, still follow its social structures.

Is Arranged Marriage Really Better than Craigslist?

This is a fabulous article written by an Indian-American girl from Sacramento, California, talking about her experiences going through the arranged marriage process with her parents. She even mentions how much a middle class dowry might be - $100,000! I highly recommend you check this out!! After you read the article, go to the discussions tab and add your opinion.

2/17/11 David Colon... so I am assuming that Dalits are very poor, and don't have meaning in life, right?

By:Mark Garcia

How mane meter squares that India have i think it have a lot

What you think?
So if you are a dalits does that mean that you cannot rise on the caste system?
Basically going by the chart the higher your social status the higher your religious beliefs?

This video is showing how even though the Brahmin's is the highest caste, it doesn't mean that they're living the life. It shows that even the people on top still have to work as hard as those who work on the bottom.

David Colon 2/17/11

I like the video of the castes, because it relates to what we have been learning in class.

Valentine Eke 2/17/11
This video of the caste is good because it has a lot of information in it.
